Latin Name: Hypericum perforatum Warnings: Do not use if pregnant. Use cautiously with anxiety. May potentiate MAO inhibitors. High doses may lead to photosensitivity. Do not take with protease inhibitors (used for HIV or AIDS) or cyclosporine. 1:2 tincture dosage 1-3ml: 3x a day (Contains St. John's Wort and ethyl alcohol) Although not preferred by some alcohol as a preservative is efficient and often necessary for the following reasons: 1. To eliminate microbial activity and preserve preparations almost indefinitely. 2. To inactivate enzymes which are destructive to alkaloids and glycosides 3.
