LECHON sa Palengke ng Marikina

Back

For over 30 years, my Grandparents along with my father managed our family meat business at the Marikina public market. As a child growing-up in Marikina, Philippines, I witnessed first-hand the daily grind of a butcher. The Filipino Lechon(roast pig) was the centerpiece of our business & I remember grandma preparing the sauce from scratch. My folks tended the market stall 6 days a week and if it wasn't for our meat business, we would not have finished school. When my Dad passed away in 1999, it seemed like he took the business to his grave. But the memories of success will always be around for me to cherish, just as the Lechon will forever grace the Filipino dining table. "From the fire to the dining table", this film is our story, a snapshot of 3 generations that for a moment lived & loved like it would last forever. Salamat Dad; salamat Lolo at Lola.
