UTD Arts and Technology Logo Concept

Back

This is a 3D version of a logo concept I proposed for the University of Texas at Dallas Arts and Technology department. The box in the space between the two wordforms was to be an iconic, flexible, morphable branding system with representative icons on the sides (or in 3D themselves) from each of the various disciplines within ATEC (gaming, sound design, filmmaking, animation, etc.). In terms of wordmark the department could choose either to keep the central Ts separate, or have the central unified T stay colored (orange, teal, whatever) against the black type of the rest of the wordmark. Because our department and what it teaches represents the "space in between arts and technology" (as our department head said), and the joining and merging of arts and technology I thought this concept a fitting one. The department went with another design that better fit the aesthetics of our department head's tastes. I am still impressed by the strength of concept and flexibility of this design, and thank the Inspiration Gods for bestowing it upon me. I also want to thank my classmate, speddee, for helping me lay it out in 3ds Max.
